Consult 01 · General practice

A complex GP consult, documented end to end.

Nina, 38, books in about a positive pregnancy test. She also has type 2 diabetes and a history of depression. Watch Lyrebird follow the whole conversation and prepare the note, the referrals, the authority script, the billing and the care plan, while Dr Sharma stays with her patient.

A clinical AI platform

One transcript, the whole consult.

Even a seemingly simple clinical note has a meaningful impact on the care that follows: it becomes part of the patient record, the basis for what gets followed up, referred and actioned. AI scribing is one of Lyrebird's features, and it is the way in. It transcribes the consult as it happens, and from that transcript the note drafts itself in the clinician's own style, then opens up the rest of the work: the referrals, the authority script, the document filing, the billing and the care plan.

Referral Lyrebird drafting an obstetric referral letter from the consult.
01Referral

A pregnancy becomes an obstetric referral

From the conversation alone, Lyrebird detects the referral, drafts the letter to the obstetrician with the relevant history from Nina's record, and lets Dr Sharma review it and save it straight to Best Practice.

Output: obstetric referral letter
Authority script Lyrebird pre-filling a PBS authority application for sertraline from the consult.
02Authority script

The sertraline script, authority and all

An authority script normally means leaving the consult entirely: logging in to PRODA, clearing two-step MFA, working through the PBS authorities portal, then keying in the patient, prescriber and medication by hand. It breaks the flow of the appointment.

Nina is established on sertraline 200mg, which needs a PBS authority. Lyrebird pre-fills the application from the consult, the medication, dose, quantity, indication and prescriber, so Dr Sharma can review and submit without leaving the note.

Output: PBS authority application
Second referral Lyrebird drafting a second referral to endocrinology for Nina's diabetes.
03Second referral

Her diabetes gets its own referral

One consult, two problems. Lyrebird drafts a second referral to endocrinology for Nina's type 2 diabetes, with the recent bloods attached, without Dr Sharma ever leaving the note.

Output: endocrinology referral letter
DocSorter Lyrebird DocSorter matching an incoming letter to the right patient and clinician, ready to verify.
04DocSorter

The reply comes back, matched and filed

The referral goes out, and eventually a letter comes back. Normally that means someone at reception matching the PDF to the right patient and clinician, then filing it by hand.

With DocSorter the letter arrives by email, and Lyrebird reads the patient name, date of birth and clinician, then matches it to the record, ready to verify. One click, no manual filing, and the front desk is free for other work.

Output: incoming documents, matched and filed
Billing Lyrebird surfacing the MBS items supported by the consult.
05Billing

The billing is captured, not missed

Lyrebird recognises what happened in the appointment and surfaces the MBS items it supports: a long consult, an antenatal attendance and a chronic disease review. The work that was done becomes the work that gets billed.

Output: 3 MBS items suggested
Care plan Lyrebird assembling a care plan and handing a summary to the practice nurse.
06Care plan

A care plan, handed to the nurse

Lyrebird assembles the GP management plan, the care team and Nina's own goal in her words, then hands a clean summary to the practice nurse to continue the appointment.

Output: care plan and nurse handover

Documentation quality went up, not just documentation time.

In an independent, peer-reviewed evaluation, clinicians using Lyrebird recorded improved note quality on the PDQI-9 quality score. The point of the platform is a higher clinical standard, not only a faster consult.
