For our customers, the health systems we partner with, and the clinicians who use our AI scribing feature every day, this certification is our formal commitment, independently verified that the data you trust us with is protected to the highest international standard.

Here's what that means, why it matters, and what it changes for you.

What does it mean that Lyrebird is ISO 27001-certified?

ISO 27001 is the internationally recognised standard for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS). Achieving certification means that an accredited, independent auditor has examined how we collect, store, process, and protect information and confirmed that our practices meet rigorous global benchmarks.

ISO 27001 requires ongoing surveillance audits and recertification every three years. It's a living commitment, not a credential we earn and forget.

Why this matters for clinical AI

An AI clinical platform sits at the intersection of two things that demand the highest levels of care: artificial intelligence and patient health information.

Every time a clinician uses Lyrebird Health, sensitive data is involved. Patient notes, diagnoses, medications, clinical observations. This isn't generic data. It's information that patients share with their doctors in moments of vulnerability, with an expectation of absolute confidentiality and integrity.

We've always taken that responsibility seriously. Not because compliance frameworks require it, but because we genuinely respect the trust that clinicians, health systems, and patients place in us. That respect is what drove us to pursue ISO 27001 certification in the first place. Not to move faster through procurement, not to check a box on a tender response. Because the people who rely on our platform deserve more than our word. They deserve proof.

ISO 27001 certification is how we back that commitment with real resources, independent scrutiny, and a standard that holds us accountable year after year.

What it means for your organisation

For health systems and clinic groups

If your procurement or compliance team has been asking about our security posture, ISO 27001 certification gives you a clear, internationally recognised answer. Our certification covers the systems and processes that handle your clinical data, and we can provide documentation to support your vendor assessment process.

For many enterprise health organisations, this certification removes a significant barrier to onboarding. Security questionnaires become faster to resolve. Compliance conversations become more straightforward. The assurance your team needs is now formally in place.

For clinicians using Lyrebird Health

You already trust us with your patients' clinical documentation. Now you have independent verification that we've built the security infrastructure worthy of that trust with controls, policies, and processes that have been tested and validated by an accredited third party.

For patients

You may never interact with Lyrebird Health directly, but our AI works in the background to help your doctors document your care more accurately and spend more time with you. ISO 27001 certification means the technology supporting your care is governed by a security framework that meets the world's highest standards.

What we did to get here

Achieving ISO 27001 certification isn't a quick process. It requires a comprehensive review and formalisation of how an organisation manages information security. From risk assessment and access controls, to incident response planning, supplier management, and business continuity.

For our team, this meant taking a hard look at every system and process that touches data, identifying gaps, building robust controls, and documenting everything to a standard that could withstand independent scrutiny.

It was a significant undertaking. And it's made us a stronger, more secure organisation in the process.

This is the baseline, not the ceiling

ISO 27001 certification is a milestone, but it's not where our commitment to security ends. Healthcare AI is a space that demands continuous vigilance. Threats evolve, technology evolves, and the responsibility we carry grows as more clinicians rely on our platform.

We'll continue investing in our security posture, our infrastructure, and the policies that govern how we operate. Annual audits will hold us accountable - we'll keep being transparent with our customers about how we protect the data they entrust to us.
