The monthly fee for an AI medical scribe only makes sense alongside the work it covers. Consult notes, letters, care plans, record integration and team controls sit at different price points, while low adoption raises the cost of every finalised note. Australian clinicians and practices can use our public Lyrebird pricing and cost-per-note method to choose the level that fits their workflow.

How much does our AI medical scribe cost in Australia?

Our Free plan and Bp Free cost A$0. Our full-time Pro plan costs A$160 per month when paid annually, or A$240 month to month, excluding GST. Eligible part-time clinicians pay half the full-time Pro price. Our Clinic Plan starts at A$299 plus GST per month when paid annually.

Our individual pricing includes a 14-day Pro trial. Clinicians who do not subscribe can continue on Free within its monthly allowances. Registrar and practice discounts on annual subscriptions are available, although the current Australian pricing page does not state fixed amounts for either discount.

What each plan includes

The lowest monthly price is only useful when the plan covers the documentation you produce. Our free options address two distinct needs: a broad, limited trial for any clinician, and unlimited everyday notes for Australian clinicians using Bp Premier.

An action is one generation, such as creating a note or document from a consult or dictation. The 20 Workflow actions on Bp Free are a one-off allowance. They include Chronic Condition Management Plans (CCMPs), health assessments and Personalisation.

Free gives any clinician a real workflow trial

Free includes customised note templates alongside separate allowances for Transcribe & Dictate and Documents & Letters. This is enough to use our platform across a representative mix of consults before paying. It suits ongoing light use when record integration, team management and care plan workflows are unnecessary.

Bp Free removes the subscription cost from everyday notes

Our Bp Free plan is available to Australian clinicians integrated with Bp Premier. Connecting your account to Bp Premier moves an eligible account onto Bp Free, with unlimited Notes and Standard Dictate. Reviewed notes and letters can save back to the patient record through our Best Practice integration.

This gives Bp Premier clinicians unlimited integrated notes without a separate Lyrebird subscription. Pro becomes relevant when documents, AI editing, care plans and assessments are regular parts of the working week.

Pro covers the documentation around the consult

Pro opens the broader clinical AI platform and removes the usage limits on consult notes, documents, letters, PDFs, care plans and assessments. It also includes all our current integrations, shared templates and centralised billing. Pro adds priority support.

At our published Pro rates, annual billing reduces a full-time clinician's yearly subscription from A$2,880 on the month-to-month rate to A$1,920, a saving of A$960 before GST. Part-time Pro is 50% of the corresponding full-time price for clinicians working under 25 hours a week:

Month-to-month billing preserves flexibility. Annual billing gives regular users the lower effective monthly cost.

Clinic plans price the whole workflow

Our Clinic Plans bundle individual GP scribe seats with whole-practice tools. Every plan includes Bp Free for every GP with no per-seat charge, nurse seats, the AI Document Sorter, clinic-controlled templates, Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) billing prompts, patient summaries and a clinic usage dashboard. Starter, Standard and Premium then add four, eight or 14 Pro GP seats respectively.

That makes a direct per-GP comparison incomplete. Essentials starts at A$299 plus GST per month for a practice-level subscription with Bp Free for every GP and three nurse seats. The clinic is also paying for documentation and administration across nursing and reception. Practices needing only individual Pro access can stay with clinician subscriptions rather than buying that broader workflow.

Calculate the subscription cost per finalised note

A flat subscription becomes less expensive per note as useful adoption rises:

Subscription cost per finalised note = monthly subscription cost ÷ drafts reviewed and saved to the patient record.

The same plan produces a very different unit cost at different levels of use:

Use finalised notes as the denominator. An abandoned draft or a note that creates more editing work has consumed time without producing a usable clinical record. Bp Free has an A$0 subscription cost for unlimited notes, although review, training and governance still require clinician and practice time.

Include the costs outside the subscription

The full monthly cost combines the subscription with the work required to use the scribe safely and consistently:

True monthly cost = subscription + add-ons + setup spread across the expected term + training + clinical review + quality assurance.

Pro includes all our current integrations in the subscription. Bp Free includes the Bp Premier integration. A practice should still budget time for template setup, consent processes, staff training, access management and review of final records.

Clinical review belongs in the cost model

Every AI-generated clinical note is a draft. AHPRA’s AI guidance makes the practitioner responsible for the accuracy and relevance of records created with generative AI. Review time therefore belongs in any cost comparison.

Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service independently evaluated our platform over 16 weeks with 100 clinicians, 19 outpatient specialties and 7,499 consultations. On average, 58% of outputs were accepted without modification. Among the 43 staff survey respondents, 84% reported a positive effect on efficiency. The Gold Coast evaluation shows both sides of the calculation: clinicians reported a useful efficiency effect, while review and editing remained part of the workflow.

Setup, consent and governance use practice time

Implementation includes:

• adapting note and document templates to each specialty;
• training clinicians to capture, review and write back drafts;
• establishing a clear patient consent workflow;
• managing users, roles and unused licences; and
• sampling finalised notes for omissions, unsupported content and contradictions.

The OAIC expects organisations adopting commercial AI to understand data flows, assess privacy and security risks, embed human oversight and monitor inaccurate outputs. These tasks are part of total cost even when no implementation fee appears on an invoice. (OAIC privacy guidance)

Is our AI scribe worth the cost?

Our AI scribe is worth paying for when it reduces the effort needed to produce an acceptable clinical record and the realised value exceeds the full cost. The value can appear as personal time recovered, usable appointment capacity or a cost that the practice genuinely avoids.

A University of Chicago cohort study compared 125 AI scribe users with 478 weighted non-users. Scribe use was associated with 2.4 fewer minutes of electronic health record time and 1.8 fewer minutes of note time per appointment. It found no significant difference in after-hours documentation or appointment volume. (JAMA Network Open)

Using an illustrative net saving of two minutes per finalised note, one full-time Pro example looks like this:

• 240 finalised notes recover eight hours a month after capture, review and write-back.
• Annual Pro costs A$0.67 per note.
• The A$160 monthly equivalent breaks even when each recovered hour is worth A$20.
• The A$240 month-to-month rate breaks even at A$30 per recovered hour.

These figures illustrate the method; they are not a promised return. A clinician producing 80 finalised notes and saving one net minute each recovers only 1.33 hours. On annual Pro, the cost is A$2 per note and the break-even value is about A$120 per recovered hour. Adoption and net time released can matter more than the headline fee.

Count each recovered minute once:

• Personal time recovered: measure the reduction in evening or weekend documentation. This is a workforce benefit and does not create cash revenue.
• Usable capacity: count additional completed appointments only when demand, rooms and support staff make that capacity available.
• Avoided cost: count transcription, overtime or other expenditure that stops after adoption.

Adding the value of time saved to revenue from appointments created by the same time would double count the result.

Choose the lowest-cost plan that covers the work

• Use Free for a broad trial or light monthly use without practice software integration.
• Use Bp Free when you use Bp Premier and primarily need unlimited integrated consult notes.
• Use part-time Pro when you work under 25 hours a week and regularly create documents, care plans or assessments.
• Use full-time Pro for unlimited documentation and integrations across a regular clinical week. Annual billing is the lower-cost option when the workflow is established.
• Use a Clinic Plan when the business case spans GPs, nurses, reception and practice-level reporting.

The right starting point is the smallest plan that covers a representative working week. Measure the time from consult capture to a reviewed, finalised note.
