What do I need to get set up?

If your computer has an inbuilt microphone or you’re using an external microphone, you don’t need anything extra to get started.

If you’re looking for a microphone, many clinicians use the Audio-Technica ATR4697-USB Omnidirectional Condenser Digital Tabletop Microphone.

Do I need to install any software?

No. Lyrebird is entirely web-based - no downloads or installations required.

Do I need to use a specific browser?

Lyrebird works across all web browsers. However, we strongly recommend Google Chrome.

Can I use Lyrebird on multiple devices?

Yes. You can log into Lyrebird on multiple devices, but you can only actively run a consult on one device at a time.

Does Lyrebird work on a terminal server or remote desktop?

Yes. Lyrebird works on most terminal servers and remote desktop environments.

You’ll need to ensure microphone access is enabled within your terminal settings. Your IT service provider can assist with this setup if needed.

What equipment works best for Telehealth consults?

Lyrebird supports both phone and video Telehealth consults.

  • Phone consults: Use speaker mode and keep the phone close to your computer microphone.
  • Video consults: An external microphone (e.g. USB conferencing mic or webcam) is recommended for better patient voice capture.

For computer-based Telehealth consults, Lyrebird can isolate audio directly from your video conferencing platform. This allows Lyrebird to hear both you and the patient clearly - even when you are using a headset. Click here to learn more about this feature.

What types of consults does Lyrebird support?

Lyrebird supports Initial and Review consults, allowing you to capture comprehensive histories or focused follow-ups. Consults can be paused and resumed as needed.

How do I customise my notes?

Your notes are fully customisable. You can edit headings, structure, and content so they match your preferred clinical style.

A detailed tutorial on note customisation is available here.

How do I customise letters and other documents?

All letters and documents are fully customisable. On the customise page, you can upload example letters, and Lyrebird will learn your preferred structure and apply it to future documents.

Tutorials are available here on both customising documents and uploading new document types.

Do I need patient consent to use Lyrebird?

Yes. You should obtain patient consent before recording a consult. Lyrebird prompts you to do this and timestamps consent for medicolegal clarity.

Do you have patient privacy information I can share?

We have created a customisable template with detailed information explaining how we keep patient information secure. When scanned the QR code will take patients to our data storage and privacy page. Click here to create a custom A4 privacy printout for your clinic.

How do I get help or contact support?

You can contact Lyrebird support via the live chat widget on the Help Centre page during business hours or email support@lyrebirdhealth.com.
